What happened on this day in History:
We travel back 81 years ago to 1945 when the Boeing airplane named Enola Gay dropped the Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. Approximately 70,000 people died INSTANTLY, with another 60,000 dying in the next four months. 90% of the city was leveled.
They called it an Atom bomb, it was the first time ever used in warfare. Enola Gay co-pilot Robert Lewis wrote in his log book that day, quote, “My God, what have we done?”
On to 34 years ago, to the year 1992, when disabled veteran actor Harold Russell sold the Oscar he won in 1947 for “The Best Years of Our Lives” at an auction in New York making it the first Oscar Ever Sold.
From Oscars to the movie screen, it was 33 years ago, in 1993, “The Fugitive” was in theaters, starring Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones.
And it was 28 years ago, 1998, Monica Lewinsky spent eight-and-a-half hours testifying before a grand jury about her relationship with US President Clinton.
