The court case in the death of a missing newborn just outside of Halifax has been adjourned at the request of the Defense, until next month.
The province’s public prosecution service says Sukhpreet Singh, 23, and his 26-year-old wife Ramandeep Kaur are scheduled to enter an election and/or plea, July 24.
The two are facing charges that include resisting a peace officer, obstructing justice, concealing the body of a child and indignity to human remains.
It was May 22 when the mother arrived at a Halifax hospital in critical condition and appeared to have just given birth.
But the baby was missing.
A search for the infant began in Clayton Park and lasted day and night until its remains were found in the woods two days later off Old Coach Road – about 15 minutes from Halifax.
Police say they believe the 23-year-old mother experienced a medical emergency and her condition was not the result of violence.
Singh is a relative of the newborn’s mother. Both Singh and Kaur remain in custody.
