Downtown Halifax to honour veterans with Remembrance light show

Downtown Halifax will be illuminated in red and poppy-themed imagery this weekend as part of a special Remembrance Day projection honouring Canada’s armed forces.

The Downtown Halifax Business Commission says the light show begins Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. at Grafton Park, projected on the façade of the former Halifax Memorial Library.

It marks the first in a new seasonal series running nightly until January 18, 2026.

This weekend’s program will include both the Remembrance Day display and an abstract fall-themed show.

The event is part of “Delightful Downtown,” a winter placemaking program launched in 2021 to brighten the city through light installations, decorated parks, and festive displays across the downtown core.

The commission says the goal is to bring beauty and community spirit to the city during the darker months.

Details on the full projection schedule are available at DowntownHalifax.ca/Delightful.
