Update (3:30 p.m. July 20, 2026):
The Mooseland Road fire continues to be held and is still estimated at 1,447 hectares, according to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
They say that ground crews and heavy equipment are still on site, as well as two DNR helicopters that are assisting with transportation while monitoring conditions from above.
Mooseland Road is closed between addresses 2124 near Jacket Lake and 2890 near River Lake, says DNR. They ask that people continue to avoid the area as crews keep working.
DNR says unless conditions significantly change, this will be Monday’s final update.
Update (10:30 p.m. July 20, 2026):
The Mooseland Road wildfire remains held at 1,447 hectares, Monday morning, with ground crews on site.
DNR says the closure on Mooseland Road has been reduced and is now between civic addresses 2124 and 2890.
DNR says heavy equipment is on site as well as two helicopters. Fixed-wing aircraft is available but is not expected to be used.
The Mooseland wildfire did force up to 150 from their homes late last week but the evacuation order from Nova Scotia Emergency Management was rescinded, Sunday morning.
The Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM) says that with residents returning home, the two evacuation centres (Musquodoboit Rural High School and Marine Drive Academy) have closed, as well as the registration line.
HRM is continuing to encourage residents to monitor air quality conditions through Environment Canada’s Air Quality Health Index for Halifax. They also mention that people should stay alert, have a go-bag ready, and be prepared to leave if conditions change.
