Fire In Chaplin 70% Contained According to DNRR

The Department of Natural Resources and Renewables says the fire in Chaplin is being contained after crews spent the day fighting the blaze.

As of 2 p.m. the fire covered 52 hectares and was 70% contained as the incident command team, 15 provincial firefighters and Halifax Fire tankers and Stewiacke Fire remained on site.

The CL-415 water bomber, which assisted in both the Chaplin fire and a large wildfire in Yarmouth County, is returning to Newfoundland and Labrador.

The fire started near Upper Musquodoboit yesterday.
