Fire occurred at a laundromat in Head of Jeddore plaza

Halifax Fire responded to a reported fire at a commercial structure in Head of Jeddore on Saturday evening.

District Fire Chief Dennis Pitts confirmed that crews were dispatched to the Forest Hills Shopping Plaza near the 8,900 block of Highway 7 at around 8:30 p.m.

Pitts stated that there was no significant damage to the property, and no injuries were reported.

The Fire Chief also noted that while a fire was confirmed at the plaza, he was unsure which specific business was affected.

However, a social media post from someone who works at The Old No. 7 restaurant, located in the same plaza, indicates that the fire was at the laundromat within Danny’s Place Café & Laundromat.

The post also mentioned that the quick response of local fire crews prevented the fire from affecting surrounding businesses, including NSLC and Home Hardware.

Comments from Danny’s Place on social media said, the fire did happen at their laundromat.

Fire officials are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
