Halifax: Schools reopen as police hunt for shooting suspect

The hold and secure has been lifted at an elementary and middle school after a nearby shooting closed their doors.

Halifax Regional Police say they responded to a shooting at about 7:30 a.m. on Thursday in the 3600 block of Rosemeade Avenue in Halifax.

They soon located a man with gunshot wounds.

Two men, who are believed to be known to each other, were in a dispute and one of the men shot the other.

The victim was taken to hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The nearby St. Stephen’s Elementary and Highland Park Junior High went into a hold and secure after the incident, but it was lifted around 9:30 a.m.

Officers are still in the area and are looking for the suspect.

Police say the suspect is described as a white man with short dark hair, wearing a beige cardigan over a white shirt, dark baggy pants, grey shoes and carrying a grey shoulder bag.
