Halifax police issue warning after 2 sudden deaths in 24 hours

Police in Halifax are warning about two sudden deaths as well as one person who was found in severe medical distress in the last 24 hours.

Details are few, however, in a media release police say the province’s medical examiner is going to do autopsies to determine cause of death.

In case it was drugs, police remind the public that illicit drugs can be laced with substances such as highly potent opioids like fentanyl that can significantly increase the risk of overdose, serious injury or death.

Signs of an overdose include difficulty breathing, unconsciousness, vomiting, blue or grey lips or fingernails, or an inability to wake the person up.

If available, administer naloxone and follow emergency dispatcher instructions until help arrives.
