Man charged with resisting arrest after illegal gathering on Citadel Hill

Halifax Regional Police have charged a man in connection with an illegal gathering on Citadel Hill last month.

Police laid charges and made arrests after 50 people gathered in violation of COVID-19 public health restrictions on May 15th.

HRP says a 23-year-old man resisted and ran from officers.

He was arrested in Halifax on Friday and is set to appear in court at a later date.

He’s facing charges including resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, and escaping lawful custody.

The man was also handed a ticket under the Health Protection Act for violating provincially mandated regulations.
