A 54-year-old man is facing threats and mischief charges after a bomb threat caused chaos in downtown Halifax.
Police say the threat came in Sunday evening for the U.S. Consulate in Purdy’s Wharf.
Officials started searching for the man behind the threat and found his vehicle on Upper Water Street in the Purdy’s Wharf parkade the next morning. In it, was a propane tank and what they thought was flammable liquid.
The man was arrested shortly after in Clayton Park near the Canada Games Centre.
Police contained the vehicle and closed the Canada Games Centre as well as several streets near the waterfront until early afternoon, when they determined there was no threat to the public.
The man is scheduled for court, Tuesday.
