More child care spaces coming to Middle Musquodoboit

More child care spaces are coming to Middle Musquodoboit in the Halifax Regional Municipality.

The province announced on Wednesday that up to 76 child care spots for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers are coming to the Splash of Color Children’s Centre, according to a news release.

Wendy Crocker, Executive Director at the Splash of Color Children’s Centre Association, says parents, staff and volunteers have been working tirelessly toward creating more accessible child care close to home.

“We’re incredibly grateful for this investment and for the partnership of government and community in making it possible. This new centre represents not only a space for children to learn and grow, but also the heart of a community that believes deeply in supporting its youngest learners,” said Crocker.

The feds and the province will spend a combined $4.5 million on a new building beside the current centre on Highway 224. The province says they expect the new facility to open in August 2026.
