A man is facing charges after police say he robbed a Truro convenience store while armed with a pitchfork.
Truro Police were called to the Proxi convenience store at the corner of Queen and Walker streets after a panic alarm was activated at about 7:30 a.m on Wednesday.
Investigators say a man entered the store carrying a pitchfork and stole cigarettes before leaving the area.
Officers quickly established a containment zone and began searching nearby properties.
The suspect was located behind an apartment building on Walker Street a short time later and was taken into custody without incident.
Police say the stolen items were recovered.
A 38-year-old man of no fixed address remains in custody and was expected to appear in Truro Provincial Court Wednesday afternoon.
No injuries were reported.
