Update: Police Charge Man With Attempted Murder After Bank Robbery Earlier This Month

Police have charged a man with attempted murder after a bank robbery on Portland Street in Dartmouth

On January 1st at around 9:30pm police responded to a robbery on the 100 block on Portland St.

A man approached a woman at a bank machine, assaulted her and took her property, she was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

He fled the area on foot.

Members of the General Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division identified the suspect and were actively seeking him.

Last night members of the HRP Quick Response Unit and General Investigation Section with assistance from Halifax District RCMP patrol officers, stopped a vehicle in Cole Harbour and arrested the suspect without incident.

The suspect is to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court today to face charge of:

Attempted murder
Robbery
Assault causing bodily harm
Possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace

is also facing one count each of theft and possession of property obtained by crime in relation to a theft from the Nova Scotia Liquor Commission store on Chain Lake Drive that occurred on January 11, 2023.
