Protest takes to Halifax streets in support of ‘Freedom Convoy’

More than 1,000 vehicles took to Halifax’s streets over the weekend to call for an end to current COVID-19 measures.

Horns could be heard blasting throughout the city Sunday afternoon as part of a protest convoy, which began at Pier 21.

Halifax Police asked the public to avoid peninsular Halifax and a loop around Bayer’s Lake due to the traffic.

Police reported they had safely pushed the protest out of the region at around 6 last night.

A social media page for the event said it was being held in support of the “Freedom Convoy” taking place in Ottawa.
