Public Health alerting close contacts through text again

Health officials say as COVID-19 cases climb in Nova Scotia they’re once again reaching out to close contacts by text message.

Public Health says as of Friday they’ll shoot a text anyone who may have been exposed when it’s an option.

“With case numbers increasing in Nova Scotia, this approach will allow timely notification of close contacts,” a news release says.

The text will let you know you’ve been identified as a close contact with someone who has the virus. Your next steps will be determined by your vaccination status.

If you’re double-vaxxed, you won’t need to self-isolate or get tested, unless you have symptoms.

People who have not rolled up their sleeves twice will have to quarantine and book a COVID test immediately. Another requirement will be to register for Daily Public Health Check-ins.

You’ll also be given a date for when your self-isolation ends.
