A single-vehicle crash in Goffs, Nova Scotia late Thursday night has led to an impaired driving investigation by the RCMP.
Police, EHS and fire services were called to the 2400 block of Old Guysborough Road at about 11:25 p.m. on August 20th.
The crash was first reported through the vehicle’s alert communication service after the Cadillac XT4 experienced an airbag deployment. The service was unable to contact the driver.
When emergency responders arrived, they found the Cadillac in a ditch with significant front-end damage.
Firefighters removed a lone 52-year-old male driver from the vehicle.
Because of his injuries, the man was unable to provide breath samples. However, RCMP officers say they observed signs of impairment and are continuing their investigation through a blood warrant.
Police looking for video
Investigators are asking anyone who may have seen the Cadillac before the crash to come forward.
Police are particularly interested in dashcam footage or surveillance video showing the vehicle travelling on Old Guysborough Road between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. that evening.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers.
