Police in Nova Scotia mourn loss of RCMP officer killed in Saskatchewan

Police in Nova Scotia are offering their condolences after a 26-year-old Mountie died in the line of duty in Southern Saskatchewan.

Const. Shelby Patton was killed during a traffic stop in Wolseley, east of Regina, on Saturday morning.

Police say Patton was struck by the pick-up truck, which had been reported stolen from Manitoba.

On Twitter, Halifax Regional Police say they’re keeping everyone impacted close to their hearts, and they salute Constable Patton for his “ultimate sacrifice.”

Nova Scotia RCMP say they’re hearts are with Cst. Patton’s family and friends, and the Saskatchewan police force.

A man and a woman who were in the truck were arrested about two hours after the incident.

Alphonse Stanley Traverse, 41, and Marlene Velma Louise Pagee, 42, both of Winnipeg, are facing a number of charges, including manslaughter and failure to stop after an accident resulting in death.
