Swimmers advised to avoid Lake Echo Beach

Avoid swimming at Lake Echo Beach until further notice.

The Halifax Regional Municipality says a recreational water quality advisory is in effect due to high bacteria levels.

Use of the beach area is at the user’s own risk.

Lifeguards will remain on-site during regular hours to advise against swimming.

High bacteria levels can be caused by factors including dogs, wildlife, and climate change.

The municipality will advise residents when this advisory is lifted.
