Imagine being at the peak of life, thriving as a young woman, when suddenly everything you knew, everything you were, everything you wanted, was taken from you.
That is what happened to Nadine: On the path to be a pro boxer, when suddenly her body was no longer able to move the way she wanted it to; She couldn’t lift her boxing gloves, she couldn’t even brush her teeth. She had no idea what was happening to her – and neither did anyone else.
Nadine was suffering from Myasthenia Gravis, a neuromuscular disease that is so rare even many doctors at the time had not heard of it. She may have suffered for years before it got to such a critical point, but so many of her symptoms were explained away or blamed on other things (“maybe you’re just stressed?”).
It’s hard to imagine the life pivot that occurred for Nadine at that point. But, rather than be angry or mourn the loss of the life she wanted to have, she decided to take the opportunity to RAISE AWARENESS and give people who also suffer from MG a voice, and a community.
That community is coming together this weekend for the SSFMGAA ANNUAL MG AWARENESS WALK!
It’s free, and anyone and everyone is welcome to join as Nadine and the MG community work to raise awareness about this unique and unpredictable chronic autoimmune disease. You can find all the details below:
