The Thunderbirds’ Maki Jenner Makes NLL Broadcast History, Again

This Saturday night at the Halifax Thunderbirds game Maki Jenner is going to make National Lacrosse League broadcasting history as the first female to do play-by-play!

Maki says this is a dream come true.

Previously she’s been a side line reporter on TSN broadcasts and on December 28, 2024, Maki became the first female in NLL history to do Colour Commentary on a National Lacrosse League game.

Maki was born into a lacrosse family as her dad, Fred, played in the NLL and her mom playing field lacrosse.

Fred competed in four seasons in the NLL, making stops with teams in Syracuse, Philadelphia, Colorado, and Washington.

Maki’s uncle, Teddy, also played in the NLL and is one of the league’s veteran broadcasters.

Congrats my friend!

The Thunderbirds will host the defending NLL champions the Buffalo Bandits at 7:30pm, Saturday.

Both teams have 3 wins and 5 loses on the season, so it will be an entertaining game.

Earlier this season in December, Halifax beat Buffalo when Clarke Peterson scored the overtime winner in Buffalo’s barn, so Saturday night will prove to be a barn burner in “The Nest” on Valentine’s Day for Lovebirds and Thunderbirds fans.

See ya there Nest Nation!
