The Serious Incident Response Team has been called in to investigate a crash involving serious injuries in Middle Sackville.
RCMP said they tried to stop a suspected impaired driver merging onto Highway 101 from Beaverbank Road around 3:35 a.m. Saturday.
“In the interest of public safety, the officer deactivated his lights and siren and did not pursue the vehicle,” police said in a news release on Sunday.
Moments later, the pick-up truck failed to negotiate Exit 2A on Highway 101, left the road, and landed on its roof in the centre of the traffic circle.
A man and a youth ran from the vehicle while a woman was trapped inside, accounting to Mounties.
The woman was freed from the vehicle by first responders and taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The youth was located nearby and also taken to the hospital by paramedics with non-life-threatening injuries.
Just after 9 a.m., RCMP arrested a 33-year-old Lower Sackville man in Lower Sackville. Charges are anticipated.
