Long list of charges for woman, teenager after search of Halifax home

A woman and a teenager are facing a long list of weapons and drug charges after a Halifax home was searched on Thursday.

Investigators with the Guns and Gangs Unit were at the property on Joseph Howe Drive at around 5:30 a.m.

Police asked the public to avoid the area while they conducted the search.

Investigators seized cocaine, cash, two handguns, and ammunition.

Olivia Braelee Sampson, 20, and a 17-year-old youth were arrested at the scene.

Sampson is facing the following charges:

  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a court order (x4)
  • Failing to surrender weapons contrary to court order
  • Handling a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations (x2)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2)
  • Possession of a firearm without a license (x2)
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon or ammunition without a license
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited weapon (x2)
  • Possession of a firearm or prohibited weapon obtained by crime (x2)
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking (x2)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Breach of probation (x3)

The 17-year-old youth is facing the following offences:

  • Possession of a firearm contrary to a court order (x4)
  • Unsafe storage of a firearm
  • Handling a firearm or restricted weapon contrary to regulations (x2)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (x2)
  • Possession of a firearm without a license (x2)
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon or ammunition without a license
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited weapon (x2)
  • Possession of a firearm or prohibited weapon obtained by crime (x2)
  • Failing to surrender weapons contrary to a court order
  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking (x2)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Breach of probation (YCJA) (x2)

Both are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
