Finally Made It To A Bruce Guthro Songwriters Circle

On Saturday night I finally got to my very first Bruce Guthro Songwriters Circle in the Bruce Guthro Theatre at Casino Nova Scotia hosted by his daughter Jodi Guthro.
Such a talented Maritime lineup with Jodi hosting, for the first time, and singing, with guests Heather Rankin, the hilarious Kim Dunn (the Billy Joel of Nova Scotia on the piano,) PEI’s Lennie Gallant who has a new album coming out in June.
There was a surprise appearance from New Brunswick’s Matt Anderson too, (the Chris Stapleton of the Maritimes.)
If you’ve never been, each performer tells songs and stories about their songs.
The night ended with the encore and everyone singing “Sonny’s Dream” the Newfoundland classic from Ron Hynes and the Wonderful Grand Band.
Jodi announced on the weekend that the next one this June will feature David Myles and Classified among others.
It’s so awesome that she and her brother Dylan continue their dad’s tradition.
Great job Jodi, your dad is beaming with pride up there.
