Man arrested after standoff in Eastern Passage

Police have arrested a man after an hours long standoff in Eastern Passage

Officers responded to a call on Cow Bay Rd. after 8 p.m Friday.

They say a man had pointed a firearm at another person inside a home. The victim fled after a physical altercation.

Police locked down the area shortly after they arrived, and began negotiating with the man inside the home shorty after 11 p.m.

The man surrendered to police at 1:45 a.m. Saturday and was taken into custody.

No one was hurt.

Jason Andrew Purdy, 43, of Eastern Passage, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Uttering Threats (2 counts)
  • Unlawful Confinement (2 counts)
  • Pointing a Firearm (2 counts)
  • Assault (4 counts)
  • Unsafe Storage of a Firearm (10 counts)
  • Careless Use of a Firearm (11 counts)
