Halifax Port Authority to participate in safety exercise Thursday morning

Residents in Halifax are advised of increased activity around the harbour this morning due to an emergency response exercise conducted by the Halifax Port Authority.

The drill, running from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., is a joint effort with Transport Canada and other stakeholders to enhance preparedness for serious incidents.

Halifax Transit’s Ferry division is also participating, with increased security measures in place at ferry terminals and onboard ferries during the exercise. However, the exercise is not expected to impact crossing or any other delays.

Marine operations will not be affected, and only authorized personnel are allowed in designated areas.

Residents may notice increased activity on the water throughout Thursday morning, however, there is no cause for concern.
