Mooseheads eliminated as Huskies complete series sweep

The Halifax Mooseheads’ playoff run is over after a 5-1 loss to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies at the Scotiabank Centre.

The Huskies jumped ahead early, scoring three goals in the first period. Eliot Ogonowski, Benjamin Brunelle, and Lucas Veilleux each found the net before Rémi Gélinas added a fourth in the second. Halifax’s only goal came from Quinn Kennedy on a powerplay late in the second period. Veilleux sealed the win with an empty-netter in the third.

Jacob Steinman made 35 saves and was named first star in his final QMJHL game. The loss ends a season of major changes and growth for the Mooseheads, who advanced to the second round despite being the league’s youngest team.
