Union wants better protections for bus drivers after assault

The president of the union representing Halifax bus drivers wants more protections in place.

Ken Wilson says all transit operators deserve a safe working environment, which he believes should include sturdy driver shields.

The barrier would be used to help prevent passengers from attacking drivers.

This comes after an assault took place on a bus that stopped at Scotia Square terminal on Monday night.

The 51-year-old passenger is facing one count of assault.
