What happened on this day in History:
We go back 79 years to the year, 1947, when Kenneth Arnold of Boise, Idaho, a search and rescue pilot said he spotted nine UFOs over Mount Rainier, Washington. Arnold described their flight pattern as if it was a saucer skipping across water. Reporters used the words “flying saucers” for the first time in the newspaper stories.
In movies…we go back to 1994, when “The Lion King” hit theaters. Elton John earned himself an Oscar for Best Original Song for “Can You Feel the Love Tonight“.
Also at the movies in 1994, “Wyatt Earp“, hit theaters starring Kevin Costner. It’s good, but personally Tombstone is the Wyatt Earp story I prefer.
In sports we go back 16 years ago to a tennis match in 2010, which turned out to be the longest match in tennis history that took place at Wimbledon. John Isner defeated Nicolas Mahut in just over 11 Hours! Eleven hours and Five Minutes!! The final set ended with a score of 70 to 68.
