The Mooseheads Owen Phillips Set To Represent Canada

Hammonds Plains Defenceman Owen Phillips will represent Canada at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in November!

The rookie 16-year-old Halifax Mooseheads blueliner was one-of-66 players from across the country to be given the honour by Hockey Canada in Tuesday’s announcement.

Owen will suit up for Canada Red in the event which runs from November 3rd to 12th in Langley and Delta, B.C.

Growing up he played for the TASA Ducks and Bay Gulls out of the St. Margaret Centre in Tantallon.

He was the seventh overall pick in July’s QMJHL Entry Draft and has impressed with his first few games in a Mooseheads uniform.

Owen scored his first career goal on October 8th in Charlottetown as he notched the game-winning goal in a 3-1 Halifax victory.

He’s one of only two Nova Scotians to be named to Canada’s roster, joining Upper Tantallon’s Quinn Kennedy of the Rimouski Oceanic.

Good luck to Owen and Quinn from Hot Country and Moose Country!
