Funding for organizations to better prepare for emergencies

Municipalities and first responder organizations can apply for funding to help better prepare for emergencies.

The province says the money is coming through the Emergency Services Provider Fund.

It will support shared projects to benefit more than one organization or community and help improve how prepared we are, response, recovery or risk reduction.

The fund may cover up to 90 per cent of eligible project costs to a maximum of $200,000.

It can include things like equipment, vehicles, training facilities.

“Strong regional partnerships are essential to building safer, more resilient communities,” said Kim Masland, Minister of Emergency Management. “This funding helps emergency service organizations work together, share resources and strengthen their ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies.”

Applications are accepted until October 31.
