Halifax Mooseheads Players Honoured

It’s a tradition here in Moose Country to honour our players who represent their Country and the Mooseheads at the World Juniors.

This past holiday season, we were proud to have three of our very own play for Team Canada in Sweden.

Moose Country’s 9,090 fans in the stands gave a standing ovation for Tantallon’s Jake Furlong, the Herd’s Captain, and Goalie Mathis Rousseau as I introduced them and team President Brian Urquhart who presented them with a special commemorative puck on behalf of the origination and the fans for their accomplishments.

Jordan Dumais is on surgical medical leave with the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets and was not there.

It was also great to see former Herd Head Coach Eric Veilleux, now the Quebec Remparts Head Coach back in Moose Country for the first time since he led the Mooseheads to the 2019 QMJHL Finals and the Memorial Cup Championship game in May 2019.

We reminisced about how the Moose came so close to winning it all, but the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies had other plans in both finals. When I was leaving the visiting teams Coaches Room I joked with Eric to take the first left to get to the Visitors bench and not the second left to get to the Mooseheads bench.

The Quebec Remparts defeated the Moose 3-2 on overtime on a wet and wild Saturday night in Moose Country.
