Killer whale watching continues at the Canso Causeway

There’s still a chance to catch a glimpse of the killer whale near the shores that enter Cape Breton Island.

Hundreds of people of all ages are travelling to the Canso Causeway to see the orca that’s been spotted over the last week.

Both tourists and local residents are stopping at the truck weighing station to try their luck at seeing it with their own eyes.

Some Nova Scotians even travelled from as far as Sydney to take the rare chance to see the orca for themselves.

It is believed to be a male whale traveling alone away from its pod, according to Tonya Wimmer, the co-executive director and director of conservation with the Marine Animal Response Society.

The orca was last spotted towards off the coast between Troy and Creignish on Monday afternoon.
