Moncton Born Calvin Pickard Is Back In Stanley Cup Final With the Oilers

Did you know the Edmonton Oilers goalie Calvin Pickard was born right here in the Maritimes Moncton, New Brunswick?

His dad Dan worked with my neighbour Bruce back in the day at the airport.

At Bruce’s bar he is proud to display one of Calvin’s catcher goalie gloves from 2016 when he was then with the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche.

The glove is autographed from when Calvin represented Canada at the World Men’s Hockey Championship and won Gold for Canada.

Calvin did see some action earlier in this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs, but Stewart Skinner has taken over the net recently.

It’s unclear whether Calvin or Skinner will start in Game 4 tonight in Sunrise, Florida in the Stanley Cup Final against the defending Cup champs with Brad Marchand of Hammonds Plains and the Florida Panthers who lead the series 2-1.

For the record, Edmonton has 16 Canadian players and Florida with 8.
