Nova Scotia’s 5 Olympic Hockey Medal Hopefuls

There are five remaining Nova Scotian hockey players that could still medal out before the 2022 Beijing Winter Games come to a close.

The Women’s National Team is going for gold against the USA on Thursday morning – 12:10am AST. Meanwhile, the Canadian men are playing tonight for a spot in the quarterfinals.

There are four locals on the women’s team and one on the men’s. Those playing as well have had pretty impressive tourneys as well.

On the women’s side, Blayre Turnbull from Stellarton has been an Olympic standout posting eight points through six games.

Meanwhile, Jill Saulnier of Halifax has also been instrumental adding a pair of helpers heading into the gold medal final.

The team also has two locals behind the bench. Head coach Troy Ryan hails from Spryfield while assistant coach Kori Cheverie was born and raised in New Glasgow.

Over on the men’s side, Alex Grant of Antigonish is currently tied for third in team scoring heading into a crucial matchup with China this evening.
