The “Doomsday Clock” is now closer to midnight than ever before. Scientists and security experts have moved the clock forward to “90 seconds to midnight.” The move signals an increased risk to the survival of mankind due to climate change and the Ukraine conflict. The clock is set each year by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists as a metaphor for “how close humanity is to self-annihilation.” It had been set at “100 seconds to midnight” for the past two years.
