Katie Vincent struck Gold in Paris and became an Olympic champion back on Saturday.
She once trained here in Dartmouth at the Lake Banook Canoe Club.

As a side note, my son Drake’s girlfriend, Lisa-Anne, is a “retired’ competitive canoe sprinter from Oakville, Ontario. She once trained with Katie from Mississauga, Ontario, back in the day.
Katie won Gold in the women’s Canoe C1 200 Metre Final with an Olympic record time of 44.12, a new world record time by the way.
So, Lise-Anne was cheering on her friend Katie at the cottage we were at in Stanhope, PEI, and yes there were “Golden tears of joy” on this special day.

With her win Katie became the first Canadian woman to win gold in canoe-kayak, she also won a Bronze in the 500 Metre Sprint Canoe Final.
Canada had our best ever showing at the Olympics with 9 Gold, 7 Silver, and 11 Bronze for a total of 27.
Congrats to all our athletes for making us proud!
