RCMP charge 16 with stunting, one almost 100 km/h over the limit

Provincial RCMP have charged 16 people with stunting, five caught travelling at speeds officers describe as of “significant concern.”

A driver was clocked at 98 km/h over the limit in Masstown and here in the Halifax-area police stopped a driver travelling 54 km/h over the posted limit.

Police released May’s stunting stats Wednesday, including:

-168 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on Highway 2 in Masstown
-141 km/h in a 60 km/h zone on Highway 107 in Tangier
-124 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on Highway 221 in Canning
-124 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on Peggy’s Cove Rd. in Tantallon
-105 km/h in a 50 km/h zone on Highway 1 in Aylesford

Stunting carries a fine $2,422.50 for a first offence, six points on your license, and an immediate roadside suspension for seven days.
