Sambro’s Jacob Newcombe Sets Cape Breton Eagles Record

Sambro, Nova Scotia’s Jacob Newcombe helped send the Cape Breton Eagles on to the 3rd round of the QMJHL Playoffs last night and set a record.

The Eagles beat Chicoutimi 8-5 to sweep the series in four games.

Jacob set a new Eagles franchise record for most points in a playoff game with 6 points including two goals and four assists!

As you may recall last year, Jacob was diagnosed with cancer and was forced to miss half of the regular season.

Cape Breton’s scheduled to arrive back from Quebec Thursday afternoon at 2:30.

The Eagles will now face either Baie-Comeau (wh0 swept Bathurst Wednesday night with a 5-4 OT win in New Brunswick), Victoriaville or the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, Cape Breton will be starting on the road.

Good luck to the Eagles from Moose Country in bringing the Q League Championship back to Nova Scotia!
