Many lakes and ponds look frozen over in Nova Scotia with our recent cold snap, but here are a few tips to keep in mind.
Various factors affect ice thickness including type of water, location and other environmental factors.
The Red Cross recommends the following:
Minimum ice thickness should be:
15 cm for walking or skating alone,
20 cm for skating parties, or games
and 25 cm for snowmobiles.
