The Halifax Mooseheads Have Successful QMJHL Draft

The Halifax Mooseheads came back home from Quebec City on the weekend with a new prospect pool of 11 players following the 2025 QMJHL Entry Draft at Videotron Centre. The Herd’s General Manager Cam Russell made highly touted defenceman Malik L’Italien of Stanstead College his first selection in the third overall position on Friday night. In total, Russell left the draft with five defencemen, five forwards and one goalie. Malik’s dad Eric played in the Q League twenty-five years ago with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, Quebec Remparts and Rimouski Oceanic.

Some local “Bluenosers” from here in Nova Scotia include Sam Ryan from Dartmouth and Duncan Anderson and Jack Bell both from Antigonish. The Herd also drafted Brody Berard an American D-man who is the nephew of former NHL’er Bryan Bedard. The top Nova Scotian drafted was Bedford’s Phenwick MacLean to the Newfoundland Regiment eighth overall. Congrats to all the new kids in town and welcome to Moose Country!
