The Memorial Cup Starts Tonight In New Brunswick

The Saint John Sea Dogs begin hosting the Memorial Cup hockey tournament tonight in the Port City.

The ten-day tournament runs until June 29th when the best junior hockey team in Canada will become champion!

The Memorial Cup took a tour of the Saint John skyline on Sunday afternoon in advance of the tournament.

Organizers of the 2022 Memorial Cup tournament held the ‘Arrival of the Cup’ event.

Part of the festivities included a helicopter flyover with the Cup aboard.

The pilot then successfully landed the cup onto a Canadian Coast Guard ship, where it was transported to shore:

The Sea Dogs host the Hamilton Bulldogs of the Ontario Hockey League tonight and will wear these special jerseys:

The “Bash on the Bay” features some great Maritime talent like Allan Doyle, Matt Mays, Matt Andersen, Joel Plaskett, Dave Sampson, Classified, David Myles and many more!

Due to the cancellation of the tournament because of COVID-19, the last time the Memorial Cup was held was here in Halifax in 2019 hosted by the Halifax Mooseheads.

The last Maritime team to win the Memorial Cup was the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in 2018, Halifax in 2013 and Saint John in 2011.

Good luck to the Sea Dogs, bring the “Mem Cup” back to the Maritimes!
