Today Is World Down Syndrome Day, Meet Tyler!

Meet my buddy Tyler Long who is the Halifax Mooseheads Assistant Equipment Manager.

Tyler has Down Syndrome.

He can be seen on game days helping the team get ready here in Moose Country filling water bottles, getting towels ready and so much more.

Tyler has been a huge part of the team since he joined us several years ago.

He and his mom Joanne can be found at the Midtown Tavern across from the rink on game days before his job starts with the Mooseheads.

After his pregame duties are done, Tyler can be seen cheering on The Herd from Section 8 behind the penalty box area where I announce the Moose games from.

Tyler can often be heard echoing me introducing the team with his own version of “Heyyyyyyy Moose Country! Lets hear it for the Beast of the East, YOUR HALIFAX MOOOOOOOOOSEHEADS!!!” And he can be heard announcing goals and penalties with me too.

I miss him when he’s not at the games for our pre-game high five tradition by the dressing room.

Tyler’s been on vacation the last couple of weeks with his family, so we’ve missed him around the rink.

Oh, and happy belated 27th birthday Tyler, Moose Country loves ya!

See ya soon buddy,

-Ian (Halifax Mooseheads Public Address Announcer since 1997)
