Maritime Music Icon Passes Away

It was sad to hear the news that Saint John, New Brunswick’s singer songwriter Ken Tobias has passed away.

Ken was all over the radio in the 1970’s with his songs like “Every Bit of Love”, “I Just want To Make Music” and “Dream No2” – they are still playing on Oldies radio stations across Canada.

He also wrote a huge hit “Stay Awhile” that the Bells has success with.

His brother, Tony Tobias, made the announcement of Ken’s passing on Wednesday online.

“It is with deep sadness I share the news that my dear, sweet brother, Ken Tobias, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024, at the age of seventy-nine at the Saint John Regional Hospital, in his hometown of Saint John, New Brunswick. Ken had been battling brain cancer for the past two months.”

During my time on Oldies radio stations over the years, Ken Tobias was a staple to our playlists, thanks for the music, Mr. Tobias, one of the best to come out of the Maritimes.

Some of his classics are below.
